About Us

Sandstorm Helsinki Softball Club was founded in 2021 with the aim to introduce fastpitch softball to Helsinki. Our softball team is made up of players from diverse backgrounds.

Our club is located in Helsinki, Finland. Our team mainly practices in Myllypuro Baseball Field and Pallomylly, Helsinki. In addition, we also utilise Urhea Hall, Töölön Kisahalli and Liikuntamylly in Helsinki for speed, agility and strength trainings.

Our Story

Softball is an absolutely amazing sport that combines physical prowess, strategic thinking, and mental toughness. We welcome players of all levels, from beginners to seasoned veterans, to us in the fun!

Our community is especially passionate creating accessible opportunities for women in the Helsinki area to get involved in softball. We have a diverse group of players, including those with experience in Finnish baseball and international players who have moved to Finland. Despite the challenges we face with limited knowledge and opportunities for the sport, we train two to three times a week in Myllypuro (more during the summer!) to develop our skills and grow our club.

Baseball and softball are growing in Finland, also thanks to the similarity to Finnish baselball, pesäpallo, which counts 18,000 registered players and is one of Finland's national sports.

We are operating under organisation Baseball-Puumat ry - a baseball organisation who has a long history of promoting baseball in Finland and participating in international events.

Some of our players are also part of the Finnish National Team - Ladybears Finland (@ladybearsfinland), who are competing in international tournaments and representing Finland proudly.
